Visual Art
The Visual Art curriculum is structured around a variety of art forms, providing students with opportunities to experience and explore different modes of artistic expression. Through this exposure, students are able to discover their interests and develop an appreciation for diverse artistic practices.
Students are also introduced to art theory, including the Elements and Principles of Design. In addition, Artful Thinking Routines are used to guide students in observing, interpreting, and discussing artworks. These approaches help students develop the vocabulary, thinking skills, and confidence to respond thoughtfully to art.

Music
At our school, we believe that every child is musical and has the ability to enjoy, learn and express themselves through music. Guided by Singapore’s Music Education philosophy and curriculum, we provide meaningful musical experiences that nurture our students’ creativity, confidence and appreciation for music. Through listening, singing, playing instruments, creating and performing, students develop their aural awareness and expressive abilities while discovering the joy of music-making.
The Primary Music curriculum offers students opportunities to explore sounds, rhythms and melodies in engaging and authentic ways. Students are introduced to a wide range of musical genres and styles, allowing them to deepen their understanding of Singapore’s rich cultural diversity as well as music from around the world. Through these experiences, students build an appreciation for their heritage while learning to respect and value different cultures.
Music education also supports the holistic development of our students by strengthening their creativity, collaboration, communication and social-emotional well-being. Through participation in musical activities, students develop important life skills such as teamwork, confidence, discipline and self-expression.
At Poi Ching School, our Music curriculum is thoughtfully designed to provide students with opportunities to explore a variety of musical instruments and use music as a form of expression and communication. We hope to inspire in every child a lifelong love for music and an appreciation of the arts as part of Singapore’s vibrant cultural tapestry.
