Learning Support for Mathematics

Learning Support for Mathematics (LSM) is a resource-based support aimed at providing intervention for some Primary 1 pupils who need help in basic numeracy skills. Pupils are identified through a screening test at the beginning of Term 1.

LSM is implemented in Poi Ching School since January 2007. A trained LSM teacher conducts the lessons in a fun and engaging manner to motivate LSM pupils to gain confidence in the subject of Mathematics.

In Term 2, all Primary 2 and 3 pupils attempted an online quiz using the lead portal as part of our Mastery of Multiplication and Division Programme. The quiz aimed to test pupils' mastery of multiplication tables according to their levels. Pupils who achieved an accuracy of 94% and above within the 10-minute timed quiz were awarded with Math badges from the Mathematics Department.
