Outdoor Activities Club

 
 
 
Mission: To promote an awareness and appreciation of the outdoor world.
 
Focus: 1) Outdoor Education
            -  Outdoor experiencesare usedto educate and develop the whole child
          
           2) Environmental Education
            -  It is a learning process that increases the pupils’ knowledge and awareness about the environment and its associated challenges.
            -  Pupils will develop the necessary skills to address the challenges
            -  Environmental Education will also foster attitudes, motivations and commitments to make informed decisions and take responsible action.
   
           3) CIP (Community Involvement Program)
            -  CIP nurtures participants to become socially responsible and also develops their sense of belonging and commitment to the country.
            - Through participating in community work, participants also learn the value of service and develop lasting friendships with one another
            - CIP will be done locally or overseas when the opportunity presents itself
 
           4) Spirit of Adventure
            -  It is the willingness to try out new things and to take calculated risks

Singapore Botanical Gardens/Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden
Date: 17th March 2011
 
During this outing, the pupils were engaged in activities that focused on simple navigation and compass reading. The pupils also visited the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden where they cultivated an appreciation for plants, nature and the environment through play and exploration. 


 
        
 
 
 

 June Camp

Date: 20th – 21st June 2011

 
The Outdoor Activity Club (ODAC) had a residential camp at Poi Ching School on 20th June to 21st June 2011 during the June Holiday. The camp aimed to instill a sense of adventure in the pupils, provided opportunities for pupils to lead, interact and cooperate in a communal setting as well as promoted camaraderie among the pupils. During the camp, the pupils engaged in activities like tent pitching, outdoor cooking, team building and station games, kite flying and also a learning journey to Kusu Island.
